Do I need an additional transformer for the detectors?
The MerlinGuard control panel operates on 120V and supplies power to all connected detectors through a dedicated terminal, providing the required 12–24VDC output. No additional transformers are needed.
Can I turn a fan on and shut off the equipment?
Yes, the system can activate ventilation upon refrigerant detection, and a relay within the MerlinGuard can be used to shut down connected equipment as needed.
How many refrigerant detectors do I need? Where are they best placed at?
It is recommended to install one refrigerant detector per chiller, or for every 7.5 meter radius within the chiller room. Detectors should be mounted approximately 0.3 meters above the finished floor.
What is the lowest pre-alarm level can the sensor provide?
Refer to the RTFT datasheet for the lowest pre-alarm level for each refrigerant type. These can range from 75PPM to 385PPM, depending on the refrigerant.
Can I power more than one audible alarm beacon inside and outside of the room?
Yes, multiple audible alarm beacons can be powered by the system, enabling alarm signals to be triggered both inside and outside multiple exits of the chiller room.
